Every October, Downtown Annapolis transforms into a boater’s dream for back-to-back Annapolis Boat Shows. This year will be no different, with the Annapolis Powerboat Show on October 3-6 and the Annapolis Sailboat Show on October 10-14.
If you’ve never tried the VIP experience at the Boat Shows before, it’s a must-try! Here’s what the VIP experience is all about for the Powerboat Show.
REASON #1: FOOD & LIBATIONS
Right out of the gate, we’re sharing all the delicious offerings on the floating tent in the middle of the show. Wet your whistle with the Mimosas and Bloody Mary Bar from 10 AM to noon. The full bar opens at noon until the close of the show.
New additions to this year’s bar selection include:
Annapolis Boat Shows President Mary Ewenson tells us there are drinks and food all day long.
“You can get there in the morning, have coffee and breakfast,” Ewenson began. “Then wander the show, pop in for a mid-day lunch, and grab snacks in the afternoon.”
What’s on the menu? Julie St. Marie Catering will return this year with a menu we’re already drooling over. Breakfast runs 10 AM to noon with coffee, assorted pastries, and fresh fruit. The lunch buffet goes 12–2 PM and has different themes each day. For starters, there’s stir-fry with fresh julienned vegetables, Tuscan pasta, as well as a fajita and chili bar. Afternoon appetizers are offered daily from 2–6 PM. Expect mainstay apps like a cheese and charcuterie display, crab dip with sliced baguette, Maryland Crab Soup, and much more.
REASON #2: COMFORT
“Because the show is so busy with exhibitors, boats, and people, there are not a lot of places to sit,” said Ewenson.
But, in the VIP area, Ewenson tells us, “There are places to sit, tables, chairs, lounge furniture, and a ton of seating.” She’s seen many boat shows, including exhibiting for 30 years with Spinsheet, where she’s also the publisher.
Ewenson noted how you can walk 10 miles over the course of the show. So, relax in furnishings by Summer Classics while you enjoy plant décor by Walnut Hill Landscaping and listen to live music off and on throughout the day from the Shawn Owen Band. Take advantage of the water bottle refill station too.
As Ewenson says, “it’s a little oasis.”
REASON #3: CONVENIENCE
We’ve already mentioned the convenient location of the floating VIP tent in the middle of both shows. However, what if the weather isn’t cooperating?
“If walls go up on the tent – which there usually are not walls – it’s because of rain, wind, or its cold,” Ewenson explains, “but either way, you can still see everything.”
She adds, “You’re sitting smack in the middle of the show, but you’re enjoying your little island.”
What if you want to buy a boat? LaVictoire Finance is sponsoring the VIP Experience. Going VIP makes logistical sense for a super convenient buying process. LaVictoire Finance can help you create a customized financing plan.
REASON #4: HOME BASE
The VIP section is the perfect home base to connect with friends—whether you're meeting up before exploring the show, grabbing a bite together, etc. But it’s not just a meeting point; it’s also a great place to make new friends and expand your network.
For those new to the show, Ewenson often hears: “Wow – I didn’t have a boat or wasn’t looking for a boat, but I’m so glad I came. I’m going to come every year because I see my neighbors and my friends, and I made new friends.”
Well, there you have it. The top four reasons to go VIP. Better hurry. There’s a reason why VIP always sells out before the show.
VIP tickets, which cost $200 (plus $1.75 service fee) include admission into the boat show as well as all the perks mentioned above. All guests must be 21+ to enter the VIP Lounge. Want to upgrade your general admission ticket? Call 410-268-8828.
Just remember. VIP is always the way to be.
