Good morning, Annapolis. Love Eastport’s 0.05K and Tug of War? We just discovered another unique “sporting” event. It’s called the World Conker Championships. Opponents take turns swinging a horse chestnut on a string at their opponent’s stringed horse chestnut until someone’s cracks. If you happen to find yourself in England’s Northamptonshire on the second Sunday of October, you could be in for a good time.
In today’s Naptown Scoop:

What’s replacing Blanca Flor
City Council meeting
Let’s get to it.

Thinking about the HALO laser this season? Meet HALO TRIBRID.
Laser season is approaching, and HALO is one of the most talked-about laser treatments for skin rejuvenation. But not all HALO technology is the same. If you’re investing in your skin, it’s worth knowing which HALO you’re getting and who is performing your treatment.
At Current Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, we offer HALO TRIBRID, the most advanced HALO technology. While traditional HALO combines two wavelengths, TRIBRID adds a third, giving us more options to treat different depths and concerns in the same treatment.
This added flexibility allows us to more precisely target sun damage, brown spots, fine lines, texture, and signs of aging, with less discomfort and downtime.
The technology is only part of the equation. At Current Dermatology, every HALO TRIBRID treatment is planned and performed by a board-certified dermatologist with expertise in skin biology, laser safety, and selecting the right settings for your skin and your goals.
There’s a reason Current Dermatology has been voted Best Laser Skin Treatment by What’s Up? Annapolis for three years in a row.
If you’re considering HALO this laser season, make sure you’re getting the best. At Current Dermatology, you get the most advanced HALO technology backed by dermatologic expertise. Visit www.currentderm.com or call (410) 384-3045 to schedule your treatment.

SHEEP CHIC

Market Space is about to get a lot cozier. Overland Sheepskin Co. is moving into 34 Market Space, Blanca Flor’s home for more than 30 years.
Overland sells sheepskin and shearling coats, leather jackets, boots, slippers, and hats. It started in 1973 in Taos, New Mexico, with a bale of sheepskins and a sewing machine. Today it has 24 stores, many of them in high-end small towns like Vail, Lake Placid, and Traverse City. Pretty cool to see Annapolis make the list.
Public records show some light construction inside, nothing major. There’s no opening date yet, but Overland posted a job for an Annapolis store manager in July. We’ll keep tracking this and let you know when it opens.
🪙 Farewell, Blanca Flor: The silver jewelry and gift shop’s storefront closed in July after more than 30 years downtown. The building sold that same month for $2.1 million. Blanca Flor says it’s still looking for a new spot in Annapolis.

What’s on the agenda at tonight’s City Council meeting 🏛️
The City Council meets tonight at 7 PM at City Hall (160 Duke of Gloucester).
The two biggest items:
Short-term rentals. Planning & Zoning Director Chris Jakubiak updates the Council on the moratorium on new short-term rental licenses for homes the owner doesn’t live in. He’ll share data on how many short-term rentals Annapolis has and the rule changes his department recommends.
Food trucks downtown. There’s a public hearing on letting food trucks into the Historic District for special events put on by business associations. Right now they’re only allowed at city-run events.
Second readers include letting homeowners rent out rooms long term, growing the city’s elections board from three members to five, and a task force to guide Annapolis’s Main Street program while the city runs it. First readers include making landlords give 14 days’ notice before an eviction, waiving up to $6,900 in city fees for the Budweiser Clydesdales’ visit on December 27, and backing conservation measures for menhaden (the fish ospreys eat).
The meeting is open to the public. If you’d like to testify, arrive a half-hour before the meeting to sign up. You can also submit written testimony online. Can’t make it? Watch live on YouTube.

In other news. . .
🤠 Saddle Up – Mavericks is now open on City Dock. The country bar is the next iteration of Armadillo’s and is owned by the same folks. It’s open Wednesday through Sunday for lunch, dinner, and late-night eats. They’re still looking for country and rock bands, DJs, and line dancing instructors. So if you’ve got a boot-scoot in you, now’s your shot. 132 Dock Street.
🏈 Comeback Kids – Navy beat Tulsa 34–26 Saturday after falling behind 20–7 in the first half. QB Jackson Gutierrez ran 41 times for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Navy’s next game is this Saturday at the University of Texas at San Antonio at 8 PM.
☕ Perfect Storm – Storm’s a Brewing, the new coffee shop at Storm Bros. Ice Cream Factory, is finally open! Owner Sveinn Storm added the coffee concept to mitigate the sales slump from City Dock construction. And it was good timing too as Bitty & Beau’s nearby just closed. Storm even hired some B&B employees! There’s coffee, breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and muffins. And the eggs come from Storm’s own Eastern Shore farm. 130 Dock Street.
📋 To-Do List – Mayor Littmann posted his goals for the rest of 2026. They include picking a new police chief, introducing new short-term rental legislation, expanding hours at Pip Moyer, and launching a new bus route focused on high schoolers. He also included an update on his Q3 goals (14 in total), of which 8 are done and 6 are still in progress.
